The problem isn't the lack of forthcoming donations, it's the lack of the criminally underpaid phlebotomists (band 2 in the NHS, I believe) who take the blood.

Next to BACS, in one of the old De Havilland aircraft factories just off the junction with Stag Lane & Mollison Way.
Commuting there from Chadwell Heath was a nightmare, so I bought a house in Radlett - less than 10 minutes drive away. Cycled it for a while but Brockley & Elstree hills were complete bastards.
Burnt Oak was still quite vibrant even back in the late 70s/80s but clearly on a downward spiral. The Flying Eagle, as opposed to the Bald Faced Stag was the teams preferred local for a lunchtime pint if we weren't off out exploring.

Love to see Thermite's take on this.
Is it: "at last, white patriots have seen through this underhand race-mixing experiment", or "Jewish vampires are sabotaging this national social benefit by drinking the stocks"?

I used to donate on a regular basis being O neg. Did so for about 40 years on and off. Never bothered to keep count of how many times. They used to come to my places of work first at Ford then in the Colleges where I worked. But when that stopped I went a few times to local collection points. That wasn't quite so convenient and I sometimes felt they were not so welcoming or well organised.
Too old now but I would encourage you to do so if you can.
Having said that I don't think it will particularly help with the problem being experienced at the present, which from what I have read is being caused by a lack of staff in the Blood Donor Service to collect donations rather than a lack of donors. I believe workplace donations were scaled down for similar reasons

Haven’t done this for a while, and I know I should as I’m O negative. There’s a donation centre over Westfield (or at least there was) for anyone interested in donating whilst over the bowl.

I donate regularly but that is still once every 3 months as per guidelines. I would donate more if I could.
I started donating after the birth of my son who was 10 weeks premature. The wife required a blood transfusion after her emergency Caesarian and I realised that had there not been donated blood available she would have died!

Merit House is on the Edgware road just past Burnt oak broadway it was occupied by BT & Kyle Stewart (who i worked for) it is now residential.
The Green shield stamps buiding was in station road Edgware just down from the station although they also had s place on the opposite side of the road to the hospital which was like a showroom too.
Further up from the blood bank was the old Boosey & Hawkes instrument factory.
I went to school and grew up around Burnt oak and Edgware and it was a vibrant and lively place Happy days but it is now a total fking dump which saddens me when passing through.

There's research out there that suggests regular blood loss is beneficial. Not saying our forebears had it right with leaching, but there's stuff about iron imbalances etc being behind a lot of chronic issues.
Never given me a can of beer, usually Penguin bars and cheese & onion crisps, which is nice

Is Merit House the old Green Shield Stamps (showing my age now) offices?
We never got offered a minibus but had a table tennis team (real Forrest Gump stuff) and played in the same league as a team from Edgware hospital, so there was less of a barrier to them phoning us up if they were running low on donors for the day.

With regard to the Edgware blood bank i worked in Merit house just up from Burnt oak and we would reguarly be booked in for donations, i think they even sent a minibus down at one point. I still have a certificate somewhere in a green wallet.
